What's my story?

I tried not to succumb to the stress and pressure of the daily security challenges whilst working in the world’s largest crisis management organization. I sought perfection as a professional, a wife, a mother, a colleague and manager only fuelled my performance anxiety which made work-life balance nearly impossible. I tried harder to feel included in the security world whilst trying to break down brick walls in a male dominated political-military environment.
As a result, my motivation and engagement levels at work plummeted as stress and pressure skyrocketed. And I was not the only one as burnout and absenteeism became a serious challenge for many organizations across the world. The year the World Health Organization recognized burnout as an international disease due to chronic occupational stress, was also the year I succumbed to burnout. That’s the moment when my own journey of resilience began. I decided that despite my current chapter in my life, I was going to focus on the future with the end in mind.
That’s the moment Thrive with EQ was born. For me, I felt a deep calling to embark on a mission and help others bend but not break at a time when challenges and uncertainty were the only constant in many lives. The nature of human interaction because of the constant online connectivity has changed drastically. More and more employees feel the pressure of living and working in a VUCA world, a world marked with Volatility, Uncertainty, Complexity and Ambiguity. Criminals and scammers have made a living through online fraud and ransomware, by using emotional manipulation techniques to trick people in clicking on malicious links, give out sensitive information and increase the risk of human error.
